The end of life is as important as the beginning...
Join our volunteer team to make a difference in your community!
Since 1977, Hospice SLO County has depended on the generosity and time of volunteers to provide our free services to San Luis Obispo County residents who are facing a life-limiting illness, end of life, or grief.
We offer our comprehensive 18-hour in-home volunteer training throughout the year. This training class meets on Wednesdays for six weeks.
Jan 7, 14, 21, 28 and Feb 4, 11
Virtually on Zoom
(The link will be provided after registration is completed)
2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
This training explores personal attitudes about death and dying, boundaries, communication skills, dementia care, anticipatory grief and bereavement, and the spiritual, practical, and emotional support needs of clients and families, including family dynamics.
Preregistration is required. Hospice SLO County's In-Home Volunteer Training is offered free of charge. Donations are greatly appreciated. If you would like to help cover the costs of this training, please consider making a donation when you register.
All reading materials will be emailed as PDFs throughout the training. However, if you would like a printed copy of our training manual, we ask for a $40 donation to help cover the cost of materials. Manuals will be available on the first day of class (or you can pick them up earlier at our office, M-F 10am-4pm).
